Feb 28, 2002 Does Anyone Really Believe The Alleged Grammy Pervert? Check out alleged Grammy pervert Mikey Greene's address to the audience at last night's Grammy Awards. Let's break down our boy Mikey's speech and see once again if he was telling the truth (for some recent Mikey history, check out this story). Mikey Boy: "That very special connection between the fan and the artist is an historically important partnership, one which enriches and entertains the public, motivating and sustaining the creator." Sphinx Response: If the artist-fan relationship is so important, why are the labels interfering with it and fucking everyone over? Mikey Boy: "No question the most insidious virus in our midst is the illegal downloading of music on the Net. It goes by many names and its apologists offer a myriad of excuses. This illegal file-sharing and ripping of music files is pervasive, out of control and oh so criminal." Sphinx Response: Mikey boy, can you please "enlighten us" and tell us which court in this land has ruled on downloading of music to be illegal? Downloading music is illegal and oh so criminal????? If this is the case, why hasn't anyone who has downloaded music been charged with a criminal offense? Because it is not illegal and it certainly is not criminal. Are you threatening the music fans with lies Mikey boy? You know what is illegal Mikey, colluding to fix high CD prices in order to screw over the fans. Ask your label buddies about this one. Mikey Boy:"Many of the nominees here tonight, especially the new, less-established artists, are in immediate danger of being marginalized out of our business. Ripping is stealing their livelihood one digital file at a time, leaving their musical dreams haplessly snared in this World Wide Web of theft and indifference." Sphinx Response: True, many of your kiss ass nominees should be out of the business because their music SUCKS! Their musical dreams have been "haplessly snared" because of their lack of talent, and for no other reason. Mikey Boy: "You've seen glimpses of kids backstage working on computers throughout the evening and are probably wondering what they're doing." Sphinx Response: I don't know about you, however, I wouldn't let my kid anywhere near this "alleged" pervert (check out this story). Mikey Boy: "The RIAA estimates that - now listen to this - an astounding 3.6 billion songs are illegally downloaded every month." Sphinx Response: So, what the fuck do you want from us Mikey boy? Should we send you, your greedy ass labels and your sell out artists some flowers? I know, let's see if we can double the download number by next month. Click here for a complete list of links to file sharing software. Mikey Boy: "It's going to require education, leadership from Washington and true diligence to help our fans - that would be you - to embrace this life and death issue and support our artistic community by only downloading your music from legal Web sites. That will ensure that our artists reach even higher and, deservedly, get paid for their inspired work." Sphinx Response: The music industry wants leadership from Washington on this? I thought the industry didn't want Washington to get involved in their matters (such as compulsive licensing)? It appears Mikey and his buddies want to have their cake and eat it too. No more. No more. Life and death issue? The only people I see dying are the labels and good fuck'n riddance already. Not only will the fans and artists survive and thrive, they will be a lot better off once these rip-off characters disappear for good. It appears Mikey boy is too busy allegedly grabbing some ass (check out this story), instead of getting his facts straight. By the way, there is absolutely no truth to the rumor that Mikey boy was seen backstage at last night's show grabbing his own ass. Sphinx |
