Here is a quick question for you? Do you know of one established musician who has come forward and supported webcasters in their fight to broadcast music on the internet. Even though these artists receive priceless worldwide promotion of their music via webcasting, not one has opened his big mouth in favor of webcasters. To the contrary, like the labels, some artists are trying to screw webcasters and music fans so they can make an extra buck. |

Why are these scared shitless artists remaining silent on this vital issue? Why are these patsies not standing behind their music, their fans and the individuals who can provide them with promotion they could have only dreamed of several years ago? There are a few reasons why artists are clamming up on this crucial music promotional issue and pretending it does not exist. First off, you have the ignorant artist who does not even have a clue about webcasting. Since many of these musicians have become brain dead because of one reason or another, this is understandable. They are excused. |

What about the know it all big mouth artists who support labor issues and causes that no one really gives a fuck about? Why aren't they supporting webcasters - or should I say - why aren't they supporting their own music or their own fans? The answer is multi-faceted. First off, these so called activist artists who are "supposedly" against corporate music structure are just in it for the money. According to this story bullshit artist Don Henley states, "Artists are caught in the middle between large labels which have been screwing them for years and dot com companies who want to use their work with no just compensation." Obviously, Don Henley is looking to make a quick buck on webcasters since his last solo effort failed to sell to his white trash faithful. What last album you ask? Precisely! Maybe Don should be worried about recording some quality music instead of shitting where he eats. Don states rather ignorantly that dot com companies want to use artists' work with no just compensation. Excuse me Don, but worldwide promotion of your crappy music (see last album) on the internet is more than you or any other dirtbag artist deserves. Of course, this is not "compensation" for our boy Donny since it is not in the form of $$$. Need further proof of Donny's ignorance? Read this letter that he signed, along with other fat pig members of the RIAA. Maybe Donny and the RIAA can open up their own music promotion business. Another reason why artists are not backing webcasters is because most of them have become complacent after raking in a few bucks and refuse to rock the boat. In other words, they are chicken shit of losing their riches they have worked so hard to obtain. And how about these artists supporting their fans? Don't these artists want their fans to be able to listen to quality music? Although these artists talk a good game when it comes to saying how much they love and cherish their fans, when it comes to acting on it they are nowhere to be found. Nice to know that an industry born from revolutionaries has become an industry full of spineless cowards. With the proliferation of such "don't make any waves artists", is it really any secret why the industry is dying? Maybe it is time for these artists to start recording music for television commercials. As the silencing of webcasters approaches, not even one artist has come to the aid of the webcasting community. The labels are corporations which need to make money and satisfy their stockholders, therefore, their greed towards webcasters is somewhat understandable. What is the artists' excuse? From the looks of it, probably the same as the labels. When the music industry goes straight to hell and the artists are no longer able to afford their lifestyles, they can look straight into the mirror for someone to blame. Like Robert Plant sings, it's nobody's fault but myne. No worry - there is always Clear Channel and their shitty radio stations to promote these artists. From the looks of it, they both deserve eachother. Sphinx |
